The charitable objects of the RSPCA are to promote kindness and prevent cruelty to animals. Although the RSPCA Wigan, Leigh & District Branch works within the rules, policies and guidelines of the national RSPCA, we are a separately registered and self-funding charity working to provide care and welfare support for local animals within the broader Wigan and Leigh district area - running from Skelmersdale in the west to Atherton and Tyldesley in the east; from Standish in the north to Ashton and Golborne in the south (we cover the WN postcodes and a few closely surrounding areas - WA3 3; WA3 2; WA3 1; M29 7; M29 8; M46 9, and M46 0 download a map of the areas covered by the Branch). |

National Helpline: 0300 1234 999 operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Please call the National Helpline number 0300 1234 999 if you are concerned about the welfare of any domestic animal. This includes cruelty complaints and abandonment concerns which should be phoned through immediately. Please do not contact us with complaints of cruelty and neglect as we are not equipped to deal with these.
All vets will provide free treatment for a sick or injured wild animal or bird (including pigeons). If you are not able to transport the creature or if you require assistance or further advice, phone us on 01942 824165 and we will do our best to help. If there is no answer or it is out of operational hours (Monday-Friday, 11am - 1pm), please phone the National Helpline number 0300 1234 999. |

In 2010, we moved to our new premises, the PAWS Centre,
in York Street, Wigan. The Centre houses a part-time animal clinic
and advice centre and a small retail outlet for quality pet goods.
