Sadly some lost animals are victims of road accidents.  In this instance the local council have responsibility for removing animals from the road.  We recommend that if you have lost a pet, as well as searching locally and putting word out on social media that you ring the council to see if they have removed any bodies from the road.  It is not a pleasant thought but one of the worst things about losing a pet is the uncertainty.  Our understanding is that the council routinely scan all animals collected in these circumstances for microchips.  It’s worth making the call.
