The Wigan PAWS (Providing Animal Welfare Solutions) Centre Animal Clinic offers low cost veterinary treatments for dogs and cats belonging to people who are in receipt of income-related or means-tested benefits and who live in a WN postcode or one of a few closely surrounding areas - WA3 3; WA3 2; WA3 1; M29 7; M29 8; M46 9, and M46 0 (download a map of the areas covered by the Clinic).

Treatments available include: Vaccinations; Flea treatments; Worming treatments; Neutering; Full health check; Animal welfare advice.

Veterinary Clinic and Microchipping

Opening times (by pre-booked appointment only):
Tuesday 9.45am - 2.20pm (closed for lunch 12pm-1pm)
Thursday 11am - 2.20pm (closed for lunch 12pm-1pm)

Before your pet can be treated, proof of your receipt of an income-related or means-tested benefit must be shown (see below for more information).

Means tested benefits include: Housing Benefit, Income Support, Council Tax benefit, Employment and Support Allowance (ESA), Jobseeker's allowance (income based), Working Tax Credit, Pension Credit,


 

All clinic appointments are subject to standard initial veterinary consultation fee of only £15 which includes a general health check for your animal (follow up consultations are just £5).

Any necessary pet medications are charged at an additional low cost.

In 2011, the RSPCA Wigan, Leigh and District branch treated 1,737 injured or poorly cats and dogs and neutered 537 animals.

    Clients must produce proof that they receive an income-related or means-tested benefit before their pets can be registered. For registered clients only, an emergency service is available after 4pm and at weekends. To use this, the client must call 07900 244788 for advice and a possible appointment.
